Tips On Picking Bathroom Vanities

By: Dean Finders

Remodeling the bathroom can be one of the most satisfying projects in the home. Some years ago there was very little choice available when it came to picking your vanity cabinets. Nowadays, however, there is a huge choice of bathroom vanities which actually makes choosing difficult. There are a number of things to consider such as the amount of space you have to work with, the cost and amount of storage required.
The most common type of vanity unit found in the bathroom is the cabinet style. These are frequently found in standard bathroom designs. You will find that their height is often somewhere between 33 and 35 inches. Although not always, these types of unit are often cheaper than their more modern counterparts. These cabinets are perfect if you are after more storage space in you bathroom.
Another option is the furniture style bathroom vanities. They are great if you have a smaller bathroom because they have a smaller footprint. They are designed, as the name suggests, to look like a piece of furniture and is freestanding which makes them very easy to install. They are a quick and easy way to update your bathroom without having to make significant changes to the surroundings. There are many styles to choose from, including those with a lot of storage and those with more stylish elements.
Another type of bathroom vanity is the vessel style. These are artistic in appearances and will add a sense of style to the bathroom. They consist of a freestanding unit with usually a bowl shaped sink sitting on top of it. Removing an older larger bathroom vanity and replacing it with one of these will free up space and make the bathroom look larger. Due to their smaller size the are also perfect for the small bathroom.
Considering the size of the bathroom is an important factor when choosing your vanity units. A smaller unit will open up the space more when compared to the larger cabinets. The vessel style cabinets are not just for smaller bathrooms they look equally as good in the larger bathrooms. As they are more modern and stylish and require a sink to sit on top they are often more expensive. The sinks are usually made out of glass and will look very stylish sat on top of a marble, granite or stone slab.
Your budget will also play a key role in the type of bathroom vanity that you purchase. Keep in mind that cabinet style vanities will increase the equity in your home so this can sometimes offset the cost of the cabinetry. Additionally, a cabinet style vanity may be preferred due to its ability to coordinate with most design elements over a long term when changes are eminent.
